Description of project
The tunnel Duernstein is situated on the B3, Donau Street in the Wachau (A). It is a two-lane road tunnel with an overall length of 472.3 m, built in mining method (“Belgium tunnel construction method”) including portal buildings. The tunnel was opened in 1959.
During general restoration works in 2018 the interior construction was renewed by removal of the existing inner shell, the new building of the seal and sprayed concrete inner lining.
The office UHG Consult ZT – DI Urs H. Grunicke was commissioned with planning an alternative concept for the building contractor. We supported them as representative project manager and with the planning.

- Structural planning resp. statical-construction planning of reinforced inner shell including auxiliary and mounting construction
- Creation of plans
