Description of project
A river channelisation in form of a slit dam had to be realised in Lech (A). In order to position a reinforced concrete wall (1 m wide and 5 m high) a bottleneck in the terrain was used. It had to project so far into the area, that the subsoil would not weaken under the torrent’s weight. It was important to regard the different parameters of the existing terrain. The dam needed a foundation made of reinforced concrete. The wall and the foundation shape a “L”, as commonly used with cantilever retaining walls and similarly loaded constructions.
A hard facing was built in the slits of the dam. It prevents the ferroconcrete of damages and stops pebbelstones or large pieces of driftwood from getting through the slits.
